Elon Musk Slams Google's Anti-White AI Tool

And: Google's AI portraits inaccuracies spark outrage | Does Google Gemini’s bias go well beyond? How about OpenAI?

Gemini firestorm

Summary - Elon Musk has responded to allegations made against Google's new anti-white AI tool by calling it "flat-out illegal." The controversy arose after Google's Gemini AI project was "paused" due to accusations of anti-white bias.

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh had dug into the project and found a video from the founder of Google's "AI Responsibility" initiative, Jen Gennai, where she suggested treating "Black, Hispanic and Latinx" employees differently than white employees. Musk viewed this as a confession of a crime, noting that treating people differently based on race or gender is illegal.

The Gemini AI project has also been accused of refusing to generate images of white people.

More Google

Summary - Google has decided to temporarily pause its AI portrait tool due to complaints of historical inaccuracies in the generated images. Users on social media flagged instances where the model depicted figures such as the U.S. Founding Fathers as women or Nazi soldiers as people of color.

This setback comes as Google tries to catch up with competitors OpenAI and Microsoft in the development of AI software. Google had previously faced criticism for inaccuracies in its generative AI chatbot, Bard, including sharing incorrect information about pictures of a planet outside the Earth's solar system in a promotional video.

The company has acknowledged the historical inaccuracies and stated that it will work to improve the tool's accuracy in generating historical contexts.

Does Google Gemini’s bias go well beyond? How about OpenAI?

Summary - In my own extremely limited testing, Gemini’s bias does not stop at portraits. Review this image and decide for yourself. I can’t get a picture of The White House?

Also, there were some accounts on X.com posting Gemini requests to create images of polar bears, only to be met by disappointing images of brown and black bears. With the recent controversy over bias in Google’s search results, and now this bruhaha with Gemini, PLUS so many more search options available now, Google may be in for a fight to save its reputation… and search ads business.

For its part, OpenAI isn’t much better. Polar bears? OK. Founding fathers? Sure. The White House? Negative. Is this what we want in our future?
